5 Reasons Why INDIE WRITERS Rock!

Why INDIE WRITERS Rock!

1. They have no publishing house-this may seem like a ridiculous idea of why INDIE WRITERS rock but they work even harder because they don’t have a big fat check to sit and write with. They either write to live or they live to write.

2. Mistakes are made in every industry. With a writer, a writer that is “traditionally” published this is what an editor is for. With an INDIE WRITER you see their mistakes. This makes them human, humble.

3. Approachable. Meanwhile the big names you can’t say hi to on Facebook or get to know what they do day in and day out. An INDIE WRITER will say hello and “Friend” you. They will get to know their readers. They in fact depend on them.

4. An INDIE WRITER inspires us all. If a flunked out English major can write a best seller we all can.

5. They are constantly improving their craft. With a “traditionally” published author they have editors, publisher and marketers that work with them to continually help them. With an INDIE WRITER you can watch them evolve into a beautiful writer with help from their readers, friends, and others who are in their inner circle.

Great post and too bad people can’t just be happy about your positive post. We know all the old arguments and this wasn’t that kind of post. So if you don’t mind I’ll take the high road. It’s great to talk to readers on a personal level.

Thanks Author Madison-that was exactly what I was trying to say..It was supposed to be something positive. People these days only see the negative. I was stating the positive so thanks for taking the “high” road. Also a big thanks to you for taking a positive outlook as well. Thanks again for reading our blog. Have a fantastic day.

Oh dear, I’d hate to think there are mistakes in my books and that people make allowances because I’m “Indie”. My editor is a professional and very thorough. I would never put a word out that I hadn’t run past him first. I’ve sold thousands of books and acquired many great reviews. Wish more Indies would hire an editor, but sadly they don’t.

Great article! Indie writers do rock!

    • gabdeveraux September 11, 2012 at 9:45 am #

Thanks Dina! I am amazed how many people have taken offense to it. I was really trying to say that they are amazing for these reasons. So thanks for liking the article. Just to clarify again as it seems people are taking offense to #2-I was only stating that there are mistakes made in books. Which do not seem to be caught which I like. It makes the book and the author more human, more humble. This is another reason indie writers rock! Thanks again! Have a great day!

Writers- we wrote this blog to support you. Not to fire you up! We understand you are human. We understand that you might have an editor, a friend that looks over your work etc.. We also understand that you are “human”. Which was stated in number #2. I actually was trying to say that the “mistakes” is a wonderful thing. I happen to like reading a book that has mistakes it shows that the writer is human, humble. This is what was being said. So before everyone is up in arms about this article please read it thoroughly and understand that it is to celebrate the indie writer and nothing more!

“With an INDIE WRITER you see their mistakes”

Er no – I hope not. I edit. And I’m still human 🙂

      Debbie,

Thanks for your comments. We were just trying to say that indie writers usually do not have editors they rely on themselves which makes them fantastic. We were saying that this makes them great! Thanks again for reading our blog and we do realize you are human this is why you rock!
